On behalf of both the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) and Turkish Society of Gastroenterology (TSG), we wish to invite you to join us at the 17th World Congress of Gastroenterology, which will be held 21-24 September 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey at the Istanbul Congress Center.

The World Congress looks forward to receiving over 4,000 delegates from around the globe. This meeting will provide an opportunity for professionals in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology and related disciplines to come together to learn about the latest research and advancements, collaborate with colleagues and actively participate in this rapidly advancing field. The Scientific Program will include a Postgraduate Course, a blend of presentations from over 100 regional and international leaders in the field, featuring four concurrent sessions daily, hands-on workshops, both oral and poster presentations, and exhibitions. The full Scientific Program can be viewed on the World Congress 2019 website at www.wcog2019.org. Sessions will offer simultaneous translation in Turkish and Russian.

Istanbul, the only city in the world built on two continents, has a strategic setting forming the city’s destiny as an imperial capital for nearly 1600 years, for Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. This metropolis, proud of its rich history and unequalled natural beauty, offers a friendly welcome and genuine hospitality. It will be hard to imagine a more historic part of the world as a focal point for the World Congress than Istanbul. Seated on the Bosphorus, some of the most fascinating history will unfold before your eyes, as you visit this magnificent city.

Throughout the Congress, attendees will have opportunities to experience the many historic sites in and around Istanbul and learn about its traditions. With three international airports (Ataturk Airport and New Istanbul airport on the European side of the city and Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Kurtkoy on the Asian side), getting to Istanbul is easy. Whether you are traveling from Latin America, Africa, or Asia, the Istanbul International Airport has over 3,000 flights per day and is serviced by over 50 airlines. Turkey also allows visa convenience for many countries.

An overview of the Scientific Program, Istanbul travel information, as well as further details regarding the upcoming Congress can be found on the WCOG 2019 website at www.wcog2019.org. The website will be regularly updated with current information leading up to the Congress in September.

We would like to thank you for your consideration in promoting this meeting and look forward to
welcoming you and your colleagues to the World Congress!
